Things that irk me:
1. Authors who take down some of their stories for no reason.
Prime Example:
Tidmag. Sure, she's not the greatest author, but I kind of enjoy her stuff and she's always nice to me. She had a few cute things up when I first found her, but she pulled those. I figured 'Eh, she didn't like them.' Author's priveledge, right? She'll put something up, and then take it down for no good reason and that bugs me. With her latest series that really bugs me. Sure, she wasn't going to finish it, but why aren't I allowed to read it anyway when I want to? She says 'email me if you want something I've pulled', but doesn't have her email listed. I ask you, does that make any sense other than in a completely evil way?
On the upside, she has a great rec list.
I just want to know why do people do this?
2. Fandom fits. Why do people have them? Can't they just be civil? What is it that causes people who are otherwise nice, if a bit prima donna-y, to snap all ties and say 'Fuck you all!'? And why do I never know about it till a month later?
Prime Example 1:
Veela Inc. When did they split? Why? Who did the splitting? What the hell happened? What the hell was everybody's problem?
Prime Example 2:
Phatgirl. I love this girl. I love Tower With A View. So, since I started reading H/S I laid down on my H/D, but I still go check my favorites and re-read them, same as I do in all my old fandoms. What happens when I don't check in for a month or two? I get in the mood to read TWAV so I head to Schnoogle. It's not there. So, I check Phatgirl(Stacy)'s LJ, and it's all blanked out. The only explanation I can find is that her bio now says 'F--- YOU ALL. ESPECIALLY THE LIARS!' I want to know what the hell happened, but most of all, I want to know where in God's name I can find the fic?
What on earth happens to make people do this? When did we all get such thin skins? I'm starting to feel like fandom itself may be doomed. In the words of god knows who, why can't we all just get along?
3. The whole ff.n debacle. It's not so much the whole chucking NC-17's, but the scramble to grab your fav's, sending people links to where else they can find their favs, and everybody bitching. Yes, it irks me also, but it's a free country, they're allowed to do it if they want to. Please people, be nice.
4. Last but not least. I hate wiping up after dinner. I don't mind doing the dishes, I just hate wiping up. I also hate the -ing form of wipe. I get the oddest feeling I'm typing something bdsm'y.
