That article is great! I laughed reading it; thank you for sharing!! How sweet.

I like the second icon better. I would try suggesting white text with a black shadow/glow around it. I think that'll be easiest to read. And perhaps a thicker font, with less curls.

Okay, bookmarked the article, and I now want the complete list of the 450 or so species. This, above every speck of evidence pertaining to human behaviour, is proof that heterosexuality is not the norm. *eg*

Can't read the icons at *all*. I had to blink a few times just to make out "Wendel(l)/Cass". Then, my eyes are shot and I'm wearing glasses instead of my contacts. You might try outlining the text in black and/or white, just to give a bit of null space. Drop shadows are good, but with a busy background the outline needs to be stronger. Might not hurt to make it a stronger colour, too. Not BRIGHT bright, just a sharper contrast.

Nothing to do with your icon though it is really cute... I was just cruising through interests and locations and was stunned to see another Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan fan in NM and on LJ no less. I'm muchly impressed. Thanks. :)
